Starting Aug. 14: Confirm Copyright Agreement for Flexmls Access - METRO MLS Blog

Starting Thursday, Aug. 14, all users must complete the Annual Copyright Confirmation upon logging into Flexmls to continue accessing the system.

In accordance with Metro MLS rules, Metro MLS owns the compilation copyright of its database. By completing this confirmation, you acknowledge that your data contributions help create that compilation, and that Metro MLS holds the copyright to the structure and arrangement of the system’s content.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the annual copyright agreement required?

Annually, Metro MLS requires this agreement to protect the integrity and ownership of its listing data. While participants retain rights to their individual listings, Metro MLS holds the compilation copyright — the legal protection for how listings are collected, organized and displayed in the system. By completing the agreement, you acknowledge this structure is copyrighted and that your contributions help create the overall database. This does not, however, change ownership of the original text (like public remarks), photographs, or videos that you create for your listings.

Why do all users need to agree to the annual copyright agreement?

Previously, only brokers were required to agree to the copyright agreement. However, because all users contribute to the MLS compilation, Metro MLS now requires compliance from all users to align with updated rules and better safeguard listing data.
